Our Vision

Hand Picked Limes

The vision of El Fuego has been clear from its conception: to deliver the brightest, freshest, and most flavorful burritos, tacos, and quesadillas in a trendy atmosphere where people feel comfortable.  El Fuego would synthesize the enlightened hospitality of fine dining with the expedition of a quick serve restaurant.  The process of actualizing this vision was uncharted territory.

As Philly natives co-owners John McNamee and Garrett Goggin knew that the city’s growing restaurant scene desperately needed a place where value didn’t mean sacrificing quality.  Rather El Fuego would re-define value.  El Fuego would stand out in the market with quality ingredients, delicious food, attentive service, and unique design
elements.

John and Garrett acquired their first space in Washington Square in early 2004.  After months of construction, hiring, and cooking they opened the doors at 723 Walnut Street and welcomed curious Philadelphians to experience the tastes, aromas, and sounds of El Fuego.

It seemed clear that a second El Fuego would be thriving on the opposite end of center city.  After two years growing the business and exploring potential locations John and Garrett acquired a space in Rittenhouse Square at 2104 Chestnut Street.  Additionally it would feature outdoor seating and a liquor license.

Commitment to valued customers; current and undiscovered, has provided El Fuego a firm foothold in Philadelphia.  El Fuego embodies an uncompromising commitment to deliver the brightest, freshest, and most flavorful food in a unique space where people feel comfortable.  El Fuego was the first restaurant of its kind in Philadelphia and remains Philadelphia’s premium burrito destination
